What is AWANA?
Awana is an international evangelical Christian nonprofit organization, which operates as a parachurch ministry to provide churches with evangelism and discipleship resources for children and youth.
The name “AWANA” is an acronym derived from the Bible verse 2 Timothy 2:15: “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” which reflects its emphasis on equipping children and young people to understand and live out their Christian beliefs. AWANA was started by Lance Latham and Art Rorheim in the 40’s in US and now has expanded globally, partnering with more than 60,000 churches in over 100 countries, reaching out to millions of children annually. In HK, Awana clubs began in 1998 and today there are more than 100 clubs in operation and AIC is one of the few that cater for the English speaking community. Clubbers are motivated with pins, badges, shares and award recognitions.

AWANA needs your help!
Are you looking for a meaningful way to make a difference in kids’ lives or to serve Jesus? Awana is calling on youth/adult volunteers to step into the role of leaders and helpers—and we believe you have something unique to offer, no matter your background or skills.
At Awana, we’re all about guiding kids to grow in faith, friendship, and joy—and that takes a village of hearts ready to serve. We need people with all kinds of talents: storytellers who can bring Bible truths to life with warmth and wonder; organized souls who’ll keep track of attendance and progress with care; game leaders who can turn a field or classroom into a space for laughter and teamwork; craft enthusiasts who’ll help little hands create something special to take home; song leaders who can get everyone singing (even off-key!) to celebrate; and snack makers who know that a simple treat can make a kid’s day brighter. Whether you’re a pro at one of these or just willing to learn, your effort will leave a mark.
If you follow Jesus, your heart for Him will shine through in how you love these kids as their leaders. And if you’re not, you can still serve as a helper to assist the leaders. What counts is a genuine desire to care for children: to listen to their stories, cheer on their small wins, and show them they’re valued. Whether your motivation is to serve Jesus or simply to pour love into young lives, you belong here.
No experience? No problem! Our team and AWANA Hong Kong will provide training and support for every role.
Kids thrive when they’re surrounded by mentors who choose to show up—people who bring their unique selves, their energy, and their kindness. Could that be you? Come be part of a team where every skill, every smile, and every willing heart helps kids grow.
Join us in shaping the next generation—one story, one game, one craft, one song, one snack, and one act of love at a time. We can’t wait to welcome you. Just complete this volunteer sign-up form or contact Danny (93037383) to learn more.
‘But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”’ Luke 18:16
‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’ Proverbs 22:6
